Elle Kennedy Books in Order: Off-Campus, Briar U & Campus Diaries

If you finish The Deal and suddenly realize Elle Kennedy has written an entire universe of Briar University hockey romances, figuring out what to read next can get confusing surprisingly fast.
There’s the original Off-Campus series.
Then there’s Briar U.
And years later, Elle Kennedy returned to the same world with Campus Diaries, where a new generation of characters takes over—including some very familiar last names.
The good news is that the reading order is actually pretty simple.
If you want to experience the Briar University books in chronological series order, read:
Off-Campus → Briar U → Campus Diaries
Elle Kennedy’s official site identifies Campus Diaries as a spinoff of both Off-Campus and Briar U, confirming that these three series share the same broader world.

Off-Campus Books in Order
The Off-Campus series is where the Briar University universe begins.
Each of the first four books follows a different member of Briar’s hockey team and his relationship, while the same characters continue appearing throughout the series.
The correct order is:
- The Deal
- The Mistake
- The Score
- The Goal
- The Legacy
Elle Kennedy officially identifies The Deal as Off-Campus Book 1 and The Legacy as Book 5. Unlike the first four novels, The Legacy contains four connected novellas revisiting the original couples several years after graduation.
I have a much more detailed guide to every couple, book, and storyline here:

1. The Deal
Couple: Hannah Wells & Garrett Graham
The Deal introduces Briar University and the hockey players who become the center of the Off-Campus series.
Hannah agrees to tutor hockey captain Garrett after his grades put his future on the team in jeopardy. In return, Garrett agrees to help Hannah get another guy’s attention.
Naturally, their arrangement doesn’t stay fake for very long.
Kennedy officially lists The Deal as Off-Campus Book 1.

5. The Legacy
Instead of introducing a fifth new couple, The Legacy returns to all four original relationships through four novellas.
It takes place about three years after graduation and gives readers a chance to see what happened after the traditional happily-ever-after. Elle Kennedy describes it as four stories involving the original Off-Campus couples.
Definitely read this one after the other four.

What Comes After the Off-Campus Series?
This is one of the exact questions people are searching for.
After The Legacy, move to:
Briar U
You’re still at Briar University, but a newer group of students and hockey players becomes the focus.
Your existing Off-Campus guide already points readers through the same progression:
Off-Campus → Briar U → Campus Diaries.
Briar U Books in Order
There are four books in the main Briar U series:
- The Chase
- The Risk
- The Play
- The Dare
Elle Kennedy’s official Briar U page identifies them as Books 1 through 4 in exactly that order.
6. The Chase
Briar U Book #1
Couple: Summer Di Laurentis & Colin Fitzgerald
If the name Di Laurentis looks familiar, it should.
Summer is connected directly to the world you already know from Off-Campus.
She moves in with Colin “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and quickly discovers that living with someone you’re attracted to—but who seems determined not to be attracted to you—is complicated.
Elle Kennedy identifies The Chase as Briar U Book 1 and centers the story around Summer and hockey-playing gamer Fitzy.

7. The Risk
Briar U Book #2
Couple: Brenna Jensen & Jake Connelly
Brenna is the daughter of Briar’s hockey coach.
Jake is Harvard’s star forward.
In other words, he is exactly the person she shouldn’t date.
Then Brenna needs Jake to pretend to be her boyfriend.
Kennedy lists The Risk as Briar U Book 2, built around the Briar/Harvard rivalry and a fake-dating arrangement.

8. The Play
Briar U Book #3
Couple: Hunter Davenport & Demi Davis
After distractions derail the previous hockey season, Hunter decides he is done with women.
Entirely.
Then he becomes friends with Demi.
You can probably see the problem.
Elle Kennedy officially lists The Play as Briar U Book 3.

9. The Dare
Briar U Book #4
Couple: Taylor Marsh & Conor Edwards
Taylor is challenged by her sorority sisters to seduce one of Briar’s hottest hockey players.
Conor could embarrass her.
Instead, he agrees to pretend.
Then the pretending becomes increasingly difficult to keep fake.
Kennedy identifies The Dare as Briar U Book 4, completing the four-book series.

What Comes After Briar U?
After The Dare, there is a significant jump forward in the Briar universe.
That brings us to:
Campus Diaries
This is where things become especially fun for longtime Off-Campus readers.
Instead of simply following another group of students who happen to attend Briar, Campus Diaries introduces the next generation.
And Book 1 makes the connection immediately obvious.
Campus Diaries Books in Order
As of September 2026, Elle Kennedy’s official Campus Diaries page lists three books:
- The Graham Effect
- The Dixon Rule
- The Charlie Method
Kennedy describes the series as a spinoff set in the same world as Off-Campus and Briar U.
10. The Graham Effect
Campus Diaries Book #1
Couple: Gigi Graham & Luke Ryder
Yes.
That Graham.
Gigi Graham is Hannah and Garrett’s daughter.
She wants to qualify for the women’s national hockey team and eventually win Olympic gold—but she needs help improving part of her game.
Luke Ryder happens to be able to provide it.
Unfortunately, Ryder has already made a terrible impression on Garrett Graham.
Elle Kennedy officially describes The Graham Effect as the first Campus Diaries novel and a spinoff of both Off-Campus and Briar U.
For Off-Campus fans, this is where reading the earlier books pays off enormously.

11. The Dixon Rule
Campus Diaries Book #2
Couple: Diana Dixon & Shane Lindley
Diana has enough going on without Shane moving into her apartment building.
She establishes some very clear rules.
Shane proceeds to complicate essentially all of them.
A fake relationship eventually becomes part of the solution to both of their ex problems—which works about as well as fake dating usually does in romance novels.
Kennedy lists The Dixon Rule as Campus Diaries Book 2.

12. The Charlie Method
Campus Diaries Book #3
Charlotte “Charlie” Kingston is balancing two very different versions of herself when she begins chatting with two anonymous men on a dating app.
Those men turn out to be Briar hockey players Will Larsen and Beckett Dunne.
And yes, this relationship looks very different from the traditional couples that came before it.
Kennedy officially lists The Charlie Method as Campus Diaries Book 3, following Charlie, Will, and Beckett.

Do You Have to Read Off-Campus Before Briar U?
Technically, no.
The individual books focus on their own central romances, and Elle Kennedy writes these stories so readers can understand the main plot without memorizing every character who came before.
But I absolutely recommend starting with Off-Campus.
The reason isn’t that you’ll be hopelessly confused otherwise.
It’s that you’ll miss part of what makes this universe fun.
Characters overlap.
Relationships carry forward.
Family connections become increasingly important.
And by the time you reach Campus Diaries, some of the new characters are literally the children of characters you met in the original series.
If you’re going to read all three series anyway, start at the beginning.
Can Off-Campus Books Be Read as Standalones?
Mostly, yes.
Each of the first four Off-Campus books focuses on a different central couple, so the romance itself has a beginning and ending within that book.
But the friendships continue throughout the series.
Your existing Off-Campus guide makes this same distinction: technically the romances can stand on their own, but reading them sequentially makes the recurring characters, friendships, and inside jokes considerably more satisfying.
The Legacy is the exception.
Do not start there.
Its entire purpose is revisiting couples you already know.
Do You Need to Read Briar U Before Campus Diaries?
I would.
Again, you could probably follow the central romances without doing it.
But if your goal is to experience the Briar University world, skipping an entire four-book series doesn’t make much sense.
The best reading experience is still:
Off-Campus → Briar U → Campus Diaries
Which Elle Kennedy Series Should You Read First?
If you are completely new to Elle Kennedy’s Briar universe:
Start with The Deal.
It introduces:
- Briar University
- The hockey program
- Garrett Graham
- Hannah Wells
- The original friend group
- The tone of the entire universe
And Garrett and Hannah become particularly important again once you reach The Graham Effect.
That makes The Deal more than simply a good entry point.
It’s where the family tree begins.
Are the Elle Kennedy Hockey Romance Books Spicy?
Yes.
These are adult/new-adult romances with open-door sexual content.
That applies throughout Off-Campus and continues into the later Briar books.
So if you’re looking specifically for closed-door college romance, this probably isn’t the series universe for you.
But the spice isn’t the only appeal.
The friendships, hockey, humor, family relationships, personal struggles, and recurring characters are a huge part of why these books are so easy to binge.
How Many Books Are in the Off-Campus, Briar U and Campus Diaries Series?
As of September 2026:
Off-Campus: 5 books
Briar U: 4 books
Campus Diaries: 3 books currently listed on the official series page
That gives you 12 books across the three core connected series.
There are also newer books associated with the broader Briar universe outside those three exact series labels. For example, Elle Kennedy currently describes Bad Idea as a Briar universe standalone featuring the next generation of Off-Campus characters, rather than labeling it Campus Diaries Book 4.
That distinction is worth preserving so the reading guide stays accurate as the universe expands.
Where Does Bad Idea Fit?
Bad Idea belongs to the broader Briar universe, but Elle Kennedy currently calls it a standalone romance rather than another numbered Campus Diaries installment.
It follows Ivy Di Laurentis and AJ Connelly at Briar University and features the next generation of Off-Campus characters.
For reading purposes, I would put it after the currently published Campus Diaries books if you’re working your way through the broader universe.
That keeps the core numbered-series reading order simple while still giving readers somewhere to go next.

Final Thoughts
One of the best things about Elle Kennedy’s Briar University books is that finishing a series doesn’t necessarily mean leaving the world behind.
You start with Garrett, Hannah, Logan, Grace, Dean, Allie, Tucker, and Sabrina.
Then Briar U introduces another group of students.
And by the time you reach Campus Diaries, the world has come full circle—the next generation is now attending Briar, playing hockey, falling in love, and creating their own disasters.
