August 2025 Comfy Reading Wrap-Up
August was a big reading month for me—romance, fantasy, memoir, and literary fiction all competing for space. It felt like peak summer reading energy: immersive stories, emotionally rich narratives, and a few books that completely took me by surprise. Looking back, August set the emotional and thematic tone for everything I read heading into fall. Here’s everything I read in August 2025:
August Comfy Pick of the Month: Solito by Javier Zamora
Books Read: 8

Beautiful Stranger – Christina Lauren
Flirty, fast-paced, and full of chemistry, this was classic Christina Lauren. It leaned heavily into attraction and banter, making it a perfect “can’t-put-it-down” summer read. Not overly deep—but very effective at what it set out to do.
Firekeeper’s Daughter – Angeline Boulley
This was one of the most powerful books I read all summer. A gripping blend of mystery, identity, and coming-of-age, it explored Indigenous community, justice, and belonging with honesty and heart. Emotional, intense, and unforgettable.
Rule of the Aurora King – Nisha J. Tuli
Fantasy romance with high stakes and addictive tension. This book delivered world-building, power dynamics, and slow-burn romance in a way that kept me completely invested. Perfect for readers who love dramatic fantasy with romantic edges. This is the second book in the series.
We All Live Here – Jojo Moyes
Warm, compassionate, and quietly emotional, this book focused on family, resilience, and finding connection during times of upheaval. Jojo Moyes excels at writing human stories, and this one was both comforting and thoughtful.
Ready or Not – Cara Bastone
Soft, cozy, and emotionally grounded, this was a lovely romance about timing, vulnerability, and taking emotional risks. It felt intimate and character-driven, perfect for slower summer evenings.
The Wedding People – Alison Espach
Witty, sharp, and surprisingly profound. This book balanced humor with heavier themes of loneliness and self-reflection. It’s observant, honest, and the kind of book that sneaks up on you emotionally.
Filthy Rich Fae – Geneva Lee
Over-the-top fantasy romance in the best way. Dramatic, indulgent, and unapologetically escapist, this book was pure fun—perfect when I wanted something immersive but not emotionally heavy. This is the first book in a series.
Solito – Javier Zamora
This memoir hit hard. Zamora’s account of his childhood journey as an unaccompanied migrant is raw, heartbreaking, and deeply human. It grounded my August reading in reality and left a lasting impact long after I finished.
